It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we regret to announce the passing of our sister Mary Janet “Janie” Rankin, on February 22, 2023. Janie was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Inverness, NS on October 9th, 1960.
Janie was the daughter of Kenneth Finlay Rankin and Catherine Sarah (MacIsaac) Rankin, both predeceased. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Christena Deveaux and Geraldine (Sam) Cameron. As well as her brothers, John William (Lorraine) Rankin and Alex Allan “Mookie” (Shirley) Rankin. Janie is survived by her sisters and brothers Sinda (Fred) Dobson, Catherine (Ronnie) Trenholm, Marcella (Garry) Watts, Sally Thomas, Mary (Dan) Stevens, Norman Rankin, and Alexander (Roxanne) Rankin.
Janie will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and grand nephews that she adored so much.
Janie was a kind, loving, caring person with a heart of gold and her generosity knew no bounds.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Inverary Manor, especially “The Highlands” for the special care she received.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in the Community Room of the Judique Fire Department on Monday February 27, 2023 from 4-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on February 28, 2023 at 11am from St. Andrew’s Parish, Judique; Rev. Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or a charity of choice.
