Mary McCarron Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the death of our much-loved Mother and Grammie, Mary Christina McCarron on October 23, 2024. Mary passed away peacefully at White Rapids Manor in Fredericton Junction with her family by her side.
Mary was born in Upper Tracy, New Brunswick on February 26, 1935, the only child of Hazel (Nason) and Murdo McLeod. She is survived by her five children Alice (John) McCracken of Fredericton Junction, Beverly Boden of Penticton, BC, Kimberly (Geoffrey) Blackmore of Hanwell, Shawn (Nina) McCarron of Carp, ON, and Susan (Scott) Phillips of Tracy. She is survived by nine grandchildren April, Heather, Candice, Grant, Andrew, Ashley, Amy, Calvin, Justin and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John and her dearly beloved sister-in-law, Lois Miller.
Mary lived a full life, locally known as the “Avon lady”. She made a lot of friends over the years selling Avon and was very successful, winning many trips that took her on Caribbean cruises, to Europe and various destinations in North America. Mary loved music and she enjoyed loading her car with girlfriends to head to the local dances or to whatever fair or picnic that had live music. Mary’s daughters often took her to various musical artist performances over the years including her favourites – Frank Mills, Anne Murray, Celine Dion, Rita MacNeil, Kenny Rogers, and Nana Mouskouri to name a few but the concert that got her the label “Coolest Grammie” was when she went to Lady Gaga.
Mary had many friends who she enjoyed visiting and going on bus trips with. But most of all Mary loved spending time with her family and she was always up for whatever adventures they threw her way whether it was going on trips together or just to the lake or Sunday dinners. She was a happy, fun and supportive Mom and Grammie. All of her grandchildren were so precious to her and she had a particularly special bond with her first grandson, Andrew. She was also known for being a wonderful cook and loved to host meals for her family and friends. Many of her special recipes live on through her family. Mary had a kind heart and was quick to help those in need. Over the years, Mary fundraised for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and volunteered in several roles in her church. She preferred to surround herself with positivity and always thought of others in a generous light.
Mary received the best care at White Rapids Manor where she lived for the past 8 years. Sadly, Alzheimer’s slowly robbed us of our Mom and Grammie and even though sometimes she didn’t know us, she still knew we were someone special to her. She will be forever loved and missed.
Donations to Special Olympics New Brunswick, Anglican Parish of Fredericton Junction, White Rapids Manor or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Oct 26th at 4pm at the Tracy Senior’s Centre located at 4435 Heritage Drive in the Tracy Municipal Building.
Arrangements are in the Professional Care of Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville, NB (368-2413). Condolences:sunburyfuneralhome.com
