It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Briand aka «Superhero» or «Big Guy», on Saturday January 13, 2024 at the age of 55 years young. Son of Raymond (deceased) and Lynda, Stepson to Albert and brother to Chad.
Mark was a very much loved brother to Janet & brother in law Dave. A sweet loving Uncle to Mikayla, Nicole, Madison, Hunter and great Uncle to Lauren. Mark was so proud to be an Uncle and loved his nieces and nephew. He lovingly displayed pictures of them all over his apt.
Mark led a challenged, often harsh life from a very young age. A survivor, often misunderstood. He never complained about his situation, was a bit of a loner and very private. Mark lived life his way, it was all he knew. He made his own path no matter what the circumstances. Mark possessed a kind & gentle heart. He had a great goofy, silly humour and at times was challenging! We loved that about Mark. Mark also adored animals, especially dogs, giving a loving home for years to a rescue dog named Storm. They will finally be reunited. Sadly and rapidly, many declining health issues took Mark far too soon. He suffered so much but is now pain free. May he rest peacefully. Our hearts will always miss Mark, his presence in our lives and in the community but our memories of and with him are forever.
A huge heartfelt thank you to the staff at PRHC & RMH for all the medical/surgical care Mark received, CC, Paramed & SE Health PSW’s. The ICU staff at Ross Memorial Hospital were amazing, so compassionate with Mark and his sister during his last days/moments. A special thank you to the COKL staff and residents of Mark’s apartment building for being so kind, caring and befriending Mark, and to the staff at the Stoddart Funeral Home for their care and assistance during this difficult time.
In respect of Mark’s wishes, therewill not be a service, cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations on behalf of or in Mark’s name will be gratefully received by: The Kawartha Lakes Food Source, or to The Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes
