It is with extreme broken hearts that the family announce the sudden passing of Mark Tanner. He passed away from an unexpected heart episode on Friday May 26th.
He was an extremely devoted and loving husband to whom he called his Forever Bride, and date for life, Sandra. He was also a proud and loving father to his two draughter’s Brittany (Gord) and Alexandra (Kyle). He also leaves behind his two grandsons Myles (Brittany) and Killian (Alexandra) along with his sister Sonya and her sons, Nick and Mike.
Mark was born and raised in Newcastle and met Sandra just west of his hometown. They created their inseparable family, and eventually moved to Cobourg in 2000, where it was always his goal to construct the perfect house for his girls.
First, foremost and most importantly, Mark devoted his life to Sandra. They enjoyed spending their days together, going for drives, sitting together at home talking about their daughters and their dreams, and just being together every moment that they could.
During the last few years, he loved teaching his two grandsons Myles and Killian about animals, and everything to do with the outdoors.
Mark spent a lot of time with his daughter Alex, and son in-law Kyle. Going camping and enjoying the outdoors was their pastime and something that no one can compete with. He taught her everything he could about being the great person that she is, including her love of the outdoors. He can leave this world knowing she is passing the passion and knowledge from their bonding down the line to her son. As much as he was a self-proclaimed angler, he may say that his son in-law out fished him on their annual fishing trips. That was alright with him, he just loved being out on the water, joking around with his daughter over a couple beers.
His oldest daughter Brittany and her family remain in the same area as Mark and Sandra. Mark has always provided Brittany with confidence and the support that she could accomplish anything in the world. This also included continuous support when she took very big steps in starting her own business. He made sure he was there, if she needed, but without intruding on her journey. He leaves knowing that she will reach the goals she strives for.
In Mark’s spare time, he enjoyed hosting family dinners and showing off his newest hobby of smoking meat. Every meal that he prepared was delicious and brought the family together, which was always his goal. Some may tell stories that the odd main course may have been a bit dry due to long conversations he had with the boys that he would call sons, Kyle and Gord.
Mark will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, and to all that knew him, he will be remembered as a hero. As his exit of this world was unexpected and way too early, his family would agree that Mark lived his life to the fullest and experienced the life that he dreamed.
There will be no funeral, as per his request, but the celebration of life date will be provided in the near future.
