Obituary
Marjorie R. Riccobono, 93 of Batavia passed away on Friday, (September 22, 2023) at United Memorial Medical Center. Mrs. Riccobono was born February 1, 1930, on the family farm in Vilas, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mabel (Dillman) Rough.
Marjorie was a 1948 graduate of Buchanan High School, Buchanan Michigan. After high school, she worked for Studebaker Motor Company in South Bend, Indiana. In the early 1950’s she moved to California and worked for Shell Oil Company. Marjorie met the love of her life Frank Riccobono while living in the same rooming house in Pasadena California. On January 26, 1957, they wed in a small ceremony. In 1959, the couple moved to Batavia and worked in her husband’s family grocery store, Riccobono’s Superette. Marjorie also worked for Sylvania Electric Products, NY State School for the Blind and Kodak, where she retired from.
Marjorie was a hardworking woman who was just as talented with a power tool as she was with a sewing machine. A devout Christian, Marjorie was a longtime parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia.
First and foremost, she was a devoted wife and mother. Marjorie was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy of her life.
Marjorie was the wife of the late Frank Riccobono who passed away in 2000. Along with her husband, Marjorie is preceded in death by her siblings, Herbert Rough, Raymond Rough, Virginia Ruth Longworth, Marilyn Jean Hewitt, William Rough, and Harlan Rough.
Surviving are her children, David of Batavia, Michael (Patricia) of Felton, Delaware, Francis (Lynn) of Batavia, Douglas (Ellen) of Lockport, Robert (Megan) of Rochester, her sister Lois Alene Parker along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday September 28, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 East Main Street in Batavia (please use the East Main Street entrance). A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Church following visitation. A private entombment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum in Batavia at the convenience of the family.
