Hallman, Marjorie
Marjorie Alice Hallman (nee Bean) passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Derbecker’s Heritage House, St. Jacobs, at 98 years of age. Cherished mother of Wendy, Mark (Kelly), the late John (Joanne), and Heather (John Klompmaker); grandmother of Matthew, Alyssa, Luke (Megan), Rachel (Nick), Adyn, Quinn, Riley (Heather), and Carson; and great-grandmother of Eva and Lucas. Predeceased by her husband Peter, son John, and son-in-law Greg Melenbacher.
Marjorie was born in 1925 on a farm outside of New Hamburg. She was a bright student and went to Normal School in Stratford to become a teacher. She taught for a number of years, and was married on December 26, 1950 to Peter Gordon Hallman from the Plattsville area. They moved to London and then Windsor where they started raising their family.
Marjorie was an active member of the Lincoln Avenue United Church UCW in Cambridge and the Laura Rose Women’s Institute, and contributed her sewing, knitting, and crocheting skills to ongoing projects and fundraisers. Marjorie enjoyed travelling, first across the country in a camper van with her family, then with her husband to Bermuda, Alaska, and countries in Europe.
Marjorie was interested in people and events, and always had kind words for others. Her quiet support and her self-effacing sense of humour drew people to her and she brought out the best in all who were fortunate to know her.
