Marjorie passed away October 6, 2024 peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at St. John’s Hospice at UBC, Vancouver B.C. Canada.
Marjorie was born February 19, 1924 to parents Marjorie Elizabeth Donnan (nee Tourney) William James Donnan in Newtownards County Down, Northern Ireland. Marjorie was the youngest of 4 children. One brother and 2 sisters. Marjorie had a very happy childhood.
In her youth Marjorie was a champion table tennis player.
During the Second World War Marjorie went to work in an aircraft factory where Marjorie met her husband to be Frederick Wilson. They had a long courtship. Marjorie and Fred were very strong and brave young people for their time. Marjorie was Presbyterian and Fred was Roman Catholic in Northern Ireland. They fought the odds. They loved each other very much. Marjorie’s husband Fred worshipped Marjorie. Marjorie converted to Catholicism when she married Fred.
Marjorie married Frederick Michael Wilson on June 14, 1949.
Marjorie immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her 3 small children and a baby with her mother in- law Lily Wilson. Marjorie set sail on a Ocean liner from Belfast to Montreal Canada which took 2 weeks by Ship. Marjorie and her young family arrived in Montreal and boarded a train to Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Marjorie was reunited with her husband Frederick who had flown to Canada earlier to settle the family into their new home. Marjorie left behind her loving family in Northern Ireland. Marjorie and Fred left Northern Ireland in search of a better life in Canada. A year later Marjorie and Fred had a baby boy Stephen in Canada.
Marjorie had 5 children with her husband Frederick, daughter Patsy, Karen, Marjorie, Sons Fred and Stephen.
Marjorie worked at Vancouver General Hospital for over 30 years as a Dietitian’s Assistant while raising 5 children. Marjorie at the age of 48 years old lost her husband Fred Wilson to a heart attack at the age of 52 years old. Marjorie continued to work and take care of her children. Marjorie retired at 64 years of age and went on to a new job helping raise 3 of her grandchildren. A time which Marjorie said was the best of her life.
Marjorie moved back to Vancouver from Burnaby in year 2000 to live in Kitslano, until her passing.
Marjorie was an avid reader all her life, till her vision started to deteriorate. In Marjorie’s younger years Marjorie was always redecorating her home. Especially when she was having company from Ireland. Even to this day Marjorie loved redecorating her lovely home. Marjorie loved to knit.
Marjorie was a fabulous cook. Sunday dinners at Marjorie’s house were fantastic.
Marjorie was a bright intelligent woman. Marjorie loved to be kept up to date on current affairs and the politics of the day. Marjorie’s favourite program was Jeopardy. Marjorie and Alex Trebek made a great team. Even though Marjorie’s vision was failing she could always see Jeopardy in Colour.
Marjorie loved to get her hair and her nails done. She had impeccable taste. Marjorie was always beautifully dressed.
Marjorie would never go out without her lipstick on.
Marjorie was the most generous Mother, Grandmother, Great grand mother and Auntie to her family.
Marjorie is survived by daughters Patsy Miller (husband Bruce) Karen Christensen (husband Laurie) Marjorie Plewinski ( husband Joseph) sons Fred Wilson ( wife Michele) Stephen Wilson ( wife Belkis)
Grand children Suzanne, Kristina, Liam, Katrina and Brittany
Great grandchildren Lillabelle, Leonidas, Tristan, Shannon, Quinn, Keeley, August and Lennox
Marjorie’s ninth great grandchild is due on what would be Marjorie’s 101 th birthday.

Marjorie preceded by her husband Frederick Michael Wilson Granddaughter Jacinda Morris both her parents Marjorie and William Donnan and her sibling Tinty, Jean and Willie, and Niece Denise McAvoy.
Marjorie was a brave, strong, independent, fiercely loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Auntie and a great friend to all who knew her and cared for. Who loved her family deeply! Marjorie always remembered everyone’s birthday.
Our hearts are broken.
Our Mother Marjorie was the rock of our family.
Marjorie was a legend. Marjorie lived to the great age of 100 with Beauty and Grace.
Our family has lost our Beautiful Mother, our best friend and the one supporter of all our dreams. Marjorie will be missed every day. And remembered always.
Life will never be the same in her absence.
Marjorie’s family was her life.
We love you Mummy with all Our hearts.
Marjorie was a rare jewel.
May she have everlasting peace. Till we meet again, Marjorie will always be in our hearts.
Marjorie’s only wish nearing her death was to be surrounded by family and them holding her hand. We as a family were able to fulfill Our Mothers last wish by holding her hand as she took her last breath.
There will be a celebration of life Mass for Marjorie on November 5, 2024 at St. Augustine’s church (2028 west 7th, Vancouver B.C. V6J 1T4)

Marjorie always gave to those less fortunate and donated to many charities. Marjorie believed Charity begins at home. Marjorie always donated to the Children’s Hospital, Food Bank, the Gospel Mission.
In lieu of flowers you can donate to one of Marjorie’s many charities she supported. Also to St. John’s Hospice at UBC.
