Marilyn Hayter Obituary
Marilyn Hayter aged 73, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family, her amazing nurses Kate and Danielle, and her loyal cat Oreo on November 7,2024 at her home. Marilyn was born in Stratford a city she loved so much that she never wanted to leave it. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Betty (Herlick) Seyler.
Anyone who has spent any time with Marilyn knows how fiercely she loved her family. They would have heard endless stories about how proud she was of her children and grandsons. Her daughter Jody (Hayter) Thomas (Larry) will always remember her for her strength, her honesty, her kindness and of course her sense of humour. She has taught her daughter how to love unconditionally and how to be the best person and mother you can be. There was no better role model.
As far as grandmother’s go there was no one that could have loved her grandsons more. Her grandsons Brad Thomas and Christofir Vogin (Emily) will always remember her for her generous nature, her compassion and for her teasing ways.
She will always be remembered by her siblings Carol Klimak (Ken) and her brother Ron Seyler (Geraldine). For Carol she will always be remembered for her kindness and love of cats. For Ron he will always remember the early years growing up and having a big sister to take his hand and lead the way. Throughout his life someone who he could share with in good and the bad and was someone who was always there for him. She will never be forgotten his sister, his friend.
She will be greatly missed by her niece Natalie Flood Krados and her nephews James Flood (Stacey), Jason Seyler and James Seyler (Megan). She was always so proud each of them. She will also be greatly missed by her very special great nieces and nephews Sofia Krados, Justine Flood, Hudson Flood and Brayden Seyler.
Marilyn is predeceased by both her parents, by her sister Linda Flood and by her son Brad Hayter.
Marilyn spent a larger portion of her working years working for the Kiwanis Club of Stratford at the Festival Fare booth. She was most proud of her work with the Kiwanis Club and was touched by so many dedicated men and women in this club. She was most proud of her work with the Kiwanis Club on the Christmas Basket fund. She loved to give back to her community. She was never more proud or honoured when they bestowed the Mel Osborne award on her in 2005. Her plaque hangs proudly to this day in her office.
She will be missed and fondly remembered by so many of her special friends and by those lives that she touched over the years.
A private family graveside service will be held at Southeast Hope United Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Stratford Perth Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society may be made through the W. G.
