Marie Becker (nee Blas) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the age of 68 years. Her family takes comfort in knowing that after her long fight with cancer, Marie left us to meet face-to-face with the One who loved her and gave Himself for her.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Becker, her parents, Peter and Alberta Blas; and brother Rennee Blas. Marie is survived by her stepdaughter Lacey Doyle (Peter), beloved grandchildren, Isis and Corban; sisters, Carol Lynne Ritsco and Edith Belobersycky (Claude); sister-in-law Jane Bendik, as well as extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
To know Marie was to love her. Her laugh was infectious. Even in her last days, her wry sense of humour kept her family smiling. She faced so many trials and heartaches over the past few years, but she was steadfastly determined (dare we say stubborn) to not let them get the best of her. Marie looked death in the face and her faith in Jesus drew her to the finish line. She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith and then peacefully, without struggle fell asleep and into the arms of her Saviour. Until we meet again, Rie, you will be remembered lovingly, daily by we who are blessed to have had you in our lives.
No formal services will be held. Please honour Marie and her memory with joy as she wouldn’t want us to be sad.
