After a courageous fight, our hearts are broken to announce the passing of Marie Huguette Josée Thibault Barneveld, who left this world much too soon on May 30, 2023, peacefully, and with loved ones by her side. Left to cherish her memory, is her loving husband of 32 years, James Barneveld and their brave, amazing sons, James and Éric. Josée will be forever remembered with love by them as well as by her parents, Gilbert and Françoise Thibault and parents-in-law Corrie and John Speelman. Josée was the fourth child in a family of five, she leaves behind her siblings: Chantal (Jean-François), Michel (Martine), Hélène (Michel), and Sylvie (Greg); sister-in-law Lisann (Ron) Cornelis; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; as well as the entire Thibault and Barneveld family. Born on December 17, 1966, in Montréal. Josée grew up in Quebec and Ontario, making friends and memories wherever she went. Josée had a wicked sense of humour, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loves her house in Chesley and would spend hours walking the trails with her amazing dog, Ajax. Her love for the water started at a young age and she always enjoyed her stay at tante Solange’s place in Ogdensburg, N.Y. She was gifted and loved to express herself through drawings, scrapbooking, and knitting. Wherever Josée lived she collected dear friends and colleagues. Josée worked in many different areas and was employed by the Lambton-Kent School Board first as a study hall supervisor, then a secretary and then a custodian. She took her assignments seriously and created good friendships. Special thanks to Dr. Lilly and all of the staff of the Bluewater Health – Palliative Care Unit. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honour Josée’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to That Girl’s Got Moxie (cheques only at the funeral home please).
