It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Maccani, who peacefully left this world on June 2, 2024, at the age of 96. Maria was born in Carotte, Pedemonte, Vincenza, Italia, and will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Maria is now reunited with her beloved husband, Romolo, and her son, Walter, in Heaven. She was a devoted Mamma to her children Bruno (Rita), Fernanda (Claudio), and the late Walter (Anita).
Maria was a cherished Nonna to Jason (Danielle), Lisa (Nabeel), Michael (Giovanna), Daniel (Justine), Andy (Yanna), Sabrina (Michael), Eric (Tatyana), Lucas, and Melissa. Maria was a cherished Bisnonna and her legacy lives on through her nine great-grandchildren, Emma, Michaela, Luca, Siena, Xander, Zara, Bryson, Ellie, and Dante.
Maria was a devout Catholic and found comfort in listening to Radio Maria. She enjoyed playing Bocce, watching Wheel of Fortune, and cooking delicious meals, especially her famous Polenta. In her later years, she took up knitting as a new hobby.
Visitations for Maria will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the DeMarco Funeral Home (Woodbridge Chapel) (8003 Weston Road, Woodbridge, Ontario, Tel- 905-850-9500).
A Funeral Mass in Maria’s honor will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 9:30am at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church (300 Ansley Grove Rd., Woodbridge, ON), followed by internment at Beechwood Cemetery (7241 Jane St., Concord, ON).
Maria will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved. May she rest in peace.
