On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Mrs. Maria Dutra Homem, beloved wife of the late Jose Cardoso Homem, of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 91 years old.
Maria was born and raised in Santa Barbara, Terceira, Portugal. She immigrated to Calgary in August, 1969. Maria was a family oriented person. She loved her family dearly, but her passion was her grandchildren. The family will cherish the blankets that Maria crocheted for them.
Maria is survived by her children Emiliano Homem and his wife Dora of Edmonton, Alberta, Nellie Plattner of Calgary; four grandchildren Nick Homem of Edmonton, Shane Homem of Edmonton, Karlie Plattner of Calgary, Alysha Plattner of Calgary; and siblings Lusa Louro of Santa Barbara, Terceira, Portugal, and John Louro and his wife Nilda of Calgary. She is predeceased by her husband Jose Cardoso Homem in 2013; grandson Daniel Plattner; sisters Maria Luisa Costa, Margarida Maria Dutra Enes; one brother Jose Maria Louro; and brother-in-law Guy Plattner.
Prayers and visitation will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima (English & Portuguese) Catholic Church, 4747 – 30 Street SE, Calgary, Alberta.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima (English & Portuguese) Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery, 3219 – 4 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta.
