Metzger (nee Good), Margaret
Peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Trinity Village Care Centre, Kitchener, at the age of 86 years.
Loving mother of Tony and Monica Metzger, and Lisa Metzger and Tracy Fleming, all of St. Jacobs. Cherished grandma of Dylan, Alanna and Annie. Will be missed by sisters-in-law Joyce Good and Mary Martin. Also remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Now reunited with her beloved husband and best friend Peter Metzger (2012), parents Abner and Mary Ann (Randall) Good, brothers Howard (Polly) and Willard Good, sister Gladys (Lloyd) Martin, and brother-in-law Art Martin.
Margaret was a fixture in the St. Jacobs community, living the majority of her life on Water Street. She was a caretaker to all and took a genuine interest in everyone she met, whether they were a customer during her 30 plus years at Stone Crock Meats & Cheese, part of her church family at St. Jacobs Mennonite where she served on the Social Committee into her 80s, or friends she made along the way. She showed her love through food and service, and many will remember her from a church meal or for her homemade ice cream made for generations of St. Jacobs school kids. Margaret was a strong, independent woman, who loved Peter and her family deeply and was very involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She will be dearly missed.
A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and support workers for their compassionate care of Margaret and her family throughout this journey.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Margaret’s life and faith will be held at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, 1310 King St. N., St Jacobs, on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10 a.m. with Mark Diller Harder and Janet Bauman officiating. Interment will follow in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery.

In Margaret’s memory, donations to St. Mary’s Hospital – Cardiac Centre Fund or St. Jacobs Mennonite Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy, and may be made through the funeral home.
