Cameron, Margaret Theresa, Antigonish
After a lengthy illness, Margie,
age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by her
many devoted family members.
The daughter of the late Aubrey and Catherine Druhan, Margie
had many fond memories of Ashdale and «Aunt
Mary’s» Chisholm family of Ohio. Her lifetime
of kindness, generosity, laughter, baking and a good card game all
began «out the #7».
Margie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years,
Placide, who shared so much with her and compassionately cared for her
throughout her illness. At construction sites, Newfie Fever
dances, dart nights and the Farmer’s Market, you seldom saw
one without the other. Soulmates.
Margie felt fortunate and blessed to have two sets of
daughters: Darlene MacDougall, Nunavik; Carolyn Floyd, Alberta and
Denise Floyd, Guysborough, and in later years, Kim (Darrel) MacDonald
and Michelle (Gerald) Cameron Benoit, Fairmont. She was
predeceased by infant daughter Stephanie, at birth. Margie
will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Allison,
Stephen, Colin, Jamie, Clara, Lindsey, Emma, Devin and
Sarah. Nanny/Margie had each of them elbow deep in cookie
dough at some point in their early lives. These fond
memories will be passed down to her twelve great
grandchildren. Let’s hope one of them can cook up
a great batch of donuts.
Margie («Peg» to her brothers) is survived by five
siblings: Mary (late Ted) Carroll, New Glasgow; Georgina Cameron,
Antigonish; Jean (late Dougie) Cameron, Alberta; Sandy (Diane) Druhan,
Antigonish, Aubrey Druhan, Antigonish and Marion (Frank) Delorey,
Antigonish.
She is predeceased by brothers Lennie and Benny and sister
Ann Tobin Delorey. Aunt Margie’s many nieces and
nephews will be left with great stories of adventures and food, lots
of food, prepared by gentle hands. Her «Gem» will
be sure to keep her memory alive. Margie will be remembered
and missed by several generations of the Druhan, Floyd and Cameron
families. The kitchens of Highland Drive Extension and
Doctors Brook were open and welcoming to all.
There was always time to «whip up a pan of biscuits» to go
with the tea.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College
Street, Antigonish on Friday, September 20th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ninian Cathedral
on Saturday at 10:30 am with Father Danny MacLennan
presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory to St. Martha’s Hospital
Foundation.
A sincere and heartfelt thanks is extended to all the
exceptional health care providers who have compassionately tended to
Margie’s needs including first responders, nurses, doctors,
the many health care support staff and all the others who make St,
Martha’s a special place during trying times. We
appreciate you. To Dr. Patsy McKenna, who guided Margie
through several decades of health care, we thank you for your kindness
and compassion. Online condolences: www. clcurry.com.
«Spread
kindness, spend quality time with children, laugh
often and
admire pretty flowers. You will think of
Margie.»
