It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Margaret J. Tarrant of Lawn, NL announces her passing. Margaret passed away surrounded by her loving family at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on April 20, 2024 at the age of 94. She was a very devoted mother to 12 children. She was a very spiritual person and instilled her faith in all her children. She was a long time member of the Saint Anne’s Sodality and she spent many hours devoting time to the church for fundraising. Her life was her family and the church. She was a very soft spoken and kind lady but when need be she could put you in your place and let all of you know she was boss. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary and an active member of the Seniors club until she could no longer participate due to failing health. She loved her children dearly and also her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the love was reciprocated back to her by each and every one of them. As one of her grandchildren expressed «Losing a parent is never easy there is a lot of love that has nowhere to go.» Mom you will be greatly missed.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her children Freddy Tarrant (Lisa) of St. John’s, Betty Skinner (John) of Mount Pearl, Gord Tarrant (Eileen) of St. John’s, Joe Tarrant (Violet) of Labrador City, Mary Edwards (René, deceased) of Kilbride, Elaine Aylward (Geoff) of St. John’s, Barry Tarrant (Carm) of Nunavut, Anna Dawe (Gary) of Holyrood, Bob Tarrant (Michele) of North River, Denise Slaney (Donny) of St. Lawrence, JeanAnn Lambert (Randel) of Lawn, NL; son-in-law, Leo White of St. John’s; special nephew, Jamie Pike (Paula) and Arlette Strang (spouse of Special nephew Roger Pike, deceased); 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bernice Quintieri (Mike), Bob Pike (Monica), Frances Lambe; sister-in-law, Doreen Pike; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
In addition, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Isadore Tarrant; daughter, Hilda White, Baby Bernice and son, Baby Barry; parents, Margaret and Robert Pike; parents-in-law, Hilda and Patrick Tarrant; siblings, Norm Pike, Harry Pike (Marjorie), Fred Pike (Maude), Sarah Richardson (Bill) and twin sister, Mary Pike.
A special thank you is expressed to Margaret’s homecare workers, Penny Drake and Alice Strang, along with many previous workers, the staff and Dr. Le at the BPHCC for their genuine care and how she was looked after so well by everyone.
The Tarrant Family will be accepting visitors at Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Lawn, NL on:
Sunday, April 21, 2024 starting at 2:00pm
Monday, April 22, 2024, All day.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret will take place at Holy Name of Jesus Church on:
Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:30am
Interment to follow at Holy Name of Jesus RC Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, in Margaret’s memory, donations may be made to the Lawn Church Committee (lawnchurch1234@outlook.com).
