Major Rocky Robert Bishop (Retired) – 64, Upper
Onslow. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of a
loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law,
cousin and friend to many.
Rocky was predeceased by his parents, Woodrow and Dorothy
(Hamlyn) Bishop; parents-in-law, Norman and Florence Matthews;
brother-in-law, Mike Reynolds.
Rocky is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years,
Janice (Matthews); daughter, Jillian (Chris), his favourite daughter
as he would always call her; his Princess and the apple of his eye,
Rosie; sister, Ena; brothers, Dennis and Arthur; sister-in-law, Norma
Reynolds; nieces, Lisa (Mike), Cavell (Patrick); nephews, Michael,
Timothy, Matthew, Jamie; nieces, Lisa (Mike), Cavell (Patrick); great
nieces, Jaidyn, Sadie Jane, Emma; great nephews, Cody and
Nolan.
Rocky spent his life serving the Lord. He was a devoted and
faithful officer of The Salvation Army. He loved pastoring his people
and being the Shepherd of the flock. Along with his wife, Janice, they
gave 79 years of faithful service. He was a gifted musician and
soloist, and brought joy and comfort to many people with his musical
talents during his years of ministry.
He loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and
grandfather. He was very proud of his family and loved spending time
with them. He loved our family vacations and in recent years loved
spending time with his Princess Rosie. During his days of sickness,
she was a ray of sunshine and a source of encouragement for him. She
gave him the incentive to keep fighting the terrible disease he had to
deal with. He fought long and hard for 15 months but lost his battle;
he is now pain and sickness free. With his family by his side on
Tuesday, December 10, 2024, he went home to be with his Lord, the one
who he loved and served faithfully.

service.
Rocky’s family will receive friends from 10-11:45
a.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, followed by a celebration of his life
at 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, all in The Salvation Army,
Truro Corps, 14 Outram Street, Truro. Reception will follow. Spring
interment in Bible Hill Cemetery, Warren Drive, Bible
Hill.
No flowers by request. If so desired, donations in
Rocky’s memory to The Salvation Army, Truro Corps are
welcomed.
