It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Madeleine Maria De Vries (nee Meade) at Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, August 4, 2023, in her 72nd year. Madeleine was the loving wife of Renze (Ron) De Vries for 51 years and the cherished mother of Colleen, Heather, Laura (Robert) and fur baby Rascal. Dear sister of Catherine (Claire) Hammond and the late Jimmie (Ann) Meade. Sister-in-law of Jan (Willie), Eelke (Margot), Carla (Danny), Peter (Laura), Marcel (Marlene), Antoinette (Emile), Louisa (Jeff), and Christienna (Percy). Daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (nee Genery) Meade. Aunt to many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at Cooper Funeral Home, 19 Talbot St. W., Jarvis on Wednesday August 9th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia’s Church,17 Lynn Park Ave., Port Dover on Thursday August 10th at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Port Dover Cemetery. Donations to Marburg Women’s Institute, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
