It is with great sadness that the family of Madalyn Beatrice Allen, 93, of Lunenburg, announce her passing on Monday, May 6, 2024 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Bayport, she was the beautiful daughter of the late Fred and Beatrice Conrad (Mosher).
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Gardiner, and daughter, Margo Horne.
She is survived by her two loving sons Peter Allen and Kevin (Jennifer); all of whom remained by her side until she left to rest in peace. Also survived by neice Sharon (Philip) Slauenwhite.
Besides her traditional devotion to her family, hearth and home, Madalyn was an active Church Member. For many years she prepared the Hymn Board for Sunday Services. She was also charged with the role of counting donations for the Summer Church Tour Program. She also dedicated countless hours in creating/donating hundreds of colourful dishcloths for the Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. Additionally, Madalyn took great pride in her long-term volunteer involvement with the Lunenburg Tennis Club.
Along with her love for being a domestic provider, (always cooking the old fashioned way and baking from scratch), Madalyn enjoyed other things in life such as: gardening, reading a great Victiorian era love story, watching Jeopardy with her son Peter, and preparing her special potatoes whenever her and her son Kevin declared a BBQ supper. She was a Tops member for approx 4 decades. There, she established life-long friendships and enjoyed her travels with them. She also had an exceptional 24/7 friendship with Willie the cat for nearly 20 yrs.
The family cannot thank the local various medical professionals enough for all their care-giving, council, and support during Madalyn’s medical journey. A very special heartfelt “thank you” is extended to Madalyn’s life-long neighbor, and friend, Dr. Heather Langille; a true Angel in Disguise.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday May 10 from St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg. Rev. Alvin Westgate officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John’s Anglican Chruch, Lunenburg would be appreciated by the family.
