Obituary of Lynn St Denis
Lynn Patrick St Denis of Vankleek Hill, aged 84, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday June 19, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Predeceased by his parents, Pat and Ann St Denis. Lynn was the beloved husband of Mireille (Mimi) Lalande for nearly 59 years. He was a proud and loving father to Michael (Lynn) and Robert (Erin) and a cherished grandfather to Olivia, Liam, and Hannah.
Lynn is survived by his dear sister Patricia (Herb Underhill) and his brother Joe (Phyllis), who will miss him deeply. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Sandra. Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Lise Theoret (the late Hubert), Diane (Ronnie), and Johanne (Jacques), as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.
As the third-generation owner of The Windsor Tavern in Vankleek Hill, Lynn continued the legacy of a family business that became a cornerstone of the community. He passed on his passion and dedication to his two sons, who now proudly run the tavern, ensuring that the memories and traditions he created will continue.
Lynn’s commitment to his community extended far beyond his business. He served as a dedicated Vankleek Hill Town Councillor from 1968 to 1976 and as Reeve from 1976 to 1997, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to public service for 27 years. In 1985, he was honoured to serve as the Warden of Prescott Russell United Counties, a testament to the respect and admiration he earned from his peers and community members.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 151 Bond Street, Vankleek Hill, on Sunday June 23, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday June 24, 2024 at Paroisse Church of Saint-Grégoire at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held at The Windsor Tavern, where everyone can gather to share memories and celebrate his life.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Di Cintio for his compassionate care and to the dedicated nurses, especially Leah, from Bayshore Nursing Care, who provided comfort and support during Lynn’s final days.
In memory of Lynn, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and would be appreciated by the family.
A Tree of Remembrance will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest in Vankleek Hill in loving tribute to Lynn.
