Lyle’s Obituary
Lyle Ralph Eagles – 68, of Tatamagouche, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1st, 2023, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Lyle was born in Truro to the late Ralph and Hilda (Rushton) Eagles.
Lyle has lived in the community of Tatamagouche for about 40 years. He worked for Layton’s Taxi for ten years, before moving on to North Shore Recreation where he spent 20 years maintaining the facilities and mentoring the kids that came through. Once he left there, he spent the next fifteen years working with his friend Andrew Langille; five seasons lobster and herring fishing and ten years working for Tatamagouche Recycling Depot. He was a die-hard Leaf’s fan.
Lyle was most happy being surrounded by people. You could usually find him every Saturday night in his shed listening to the hoe-down. He always had a listening ear and a kind heart for his friends and family.
Lyle helped so many people throughout his life, and it gave him such pleasure in doing so.
Surviving are his brothers, Douglas Eagles (Wendy), Alberta, Kevin Eagles, Alberta; sister Darlene Johnson (Bruce), Onslow; honorary children Ashley Bain, Salmon River, Kevin Smith (Janice), East Earltown; honorary grandkids Grace Bain, Salmon River, Tristen Patriquin, North River, Tristan Smith, Tatamagouche; good friend Brenda Bain, Truro; nieces and nephews Daniel Eagles, Dartmouth, Matthew Eagles (Shandal), Calgary, Kari Lennerton (Nicole), Onslow, Jeffrey Johnson (Amira), Halifax, Nancy MacDonald (Travis), Onslow, J.R. Gloade, Milbrook, and many extended family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Dianna Higgins; second wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Wood; and sister, Heather Eagles.
Cremation has taken place with a Graveside Service being held Sunday, October 15th at 2pm in the Tatamagouche Mountain Cemetery. For your comfort, please feel free to bring a lawnchair. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home in Tatamagouche.
