Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lucille Edith Purchase announce her passing on the day of her 85th birthday, Wednesday October 9th, 2024 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care. She leaves to mourn with vibrant and incredibly, loving memories, her sons: Murray (Maureen) and Robert (Lori), grandsons, Keelan, Quinn, Cole and Griffin, her siblings; Ann Campbell, Joy Campbell (Iris ‘Mickey’ Johnson), Kay Pike, Gloria Sweetapple (Clarence), Ken Campbell, and Trudy-Jo Campbell (John van Vliet), sister in law; Vida Gardner as well as a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends she made working at Sears, neighbours from Reid’s Rd, Johnson Ave and lastly Churchill Crescent. She indeed bloomed wherever she was planted.
Lucille is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Harold Purchase. Parents Murray and Lucy Campbell and stepmother Bessie Campbell. Brother, Malcolm Campbell. Parents-in-law, Herbert and Pearl Purchase, Brothers and sisters-in-law: Leroy Pike, Simone Campbell, David Stark, Fraser and Beulah Purchase, Ruby and Robert Porter, Alma Lee Purchase, Lloyd and Margaret Purchase.
Always curious, Lucille embraced life with passion, adventure and humour. She loved hopping in the car and travelling across the island to visit friends with her trusted GPS, her getaway road trips with her beloved sisters, trips to Ontario, Florida and Italy not only filled her cup, but filled the cups of all those she came in contact with. She loved quilting and the camaraderie with her talented friends each week during the winter. When her eyesight failed in recent years it did not curtail her desire to reach out, always thoughtful to wish us all good night through Facebook.
