Lucien Ambriose Dumont took his last breath at Hotel Dieu Hosptial,
Ouellette Campus surrounded by his family, at the 89 years of age, on July 19, 2024. Luc is at last at peace after suffering the effects of a stroke 2 years ago. He lived out his last two years at Huron Lodge and was cared for by many wonderful PSWs and Nurses. Luc was born in Cartier, Ontario.
Predeceased by his parents Oscar and Germaine (nee Pilon), brother Omer, sister Fern (Rolly), sister Therese, and sister Marie. He will be dearly missed by his brothers Frank (Lou), JP (Marg), Rick (Judy), sister Carmen, sister-in-law Flo and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
As a young man, Luc spent time working on the CPR railway as well as mining at Falconbridge in Sudbury. He found his way to Windsor where he began working at the Windsor Utilities Commission. He met the love of his life, Carol (nee Tremblay) and they have been married for 57 years. He was a devoted father to Denise (Jonas) and he has been joyfully reunited in heaven with his son, David (1975). He is adored by his grandchildren, Cole, Jenna, Avery and Brooklyn and his love of them was immeasurable. As a dad, he spent his time cheering at baseball games, swimming competitions and he even delivered newspapers when the need arose due to a Saturday morning baseball tournament. He was a joker and was always up for a prank and a laugh. His smile lit up the room and he laughed easily.
Luc retired from Windsor Utilities Commission in 1997 where he was very active as President. He has always been a devoted Montreal Canadians fan and enjoyed Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday. Since his retirement, Luc has lived a wonderful life. He balanced life with travel and hobbies such as puzzling and woodworking with giving generously of his time volunteering with the Good Fellows, Ushering at Sacred Heart, St. Christopher and Our Lady of Perpetual Help churches. Luc was most proud of the 282 pints of blood he donated at the Red Cross. He was the founding member of the Reye’s Syndrome Study Centre at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan which helped bring awareness to the danger of giving aspirin to children. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed spending time getting together with friends for coffee.
His family was always at the top of his list and he worked tirelessly to ensure that we had exactly what we needed. This carried over to the world in general as Luc was always there for anyone who needed it. His smile, generosity, love, support and kindness will be missed.
A very special thank you to the staff at Huron Lodge for your dedication and care. You will have our utmost respect and gratitude. A special thank you to Ron Jeffrey for your tireless efforts to provide care for Luc and support to Carol during his time at Huron Lodge.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 23, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with parish prayers at 6:30 at Families First South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave. Windsor) A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday July 24th at 10:30 a.m. with visitation prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Church (1947 Meldrum Rd) Procession to Heavenly Rest to follow.
