October 27 2023 résidant dans la province Saskatchewan pour le détail des funérailles

Our dearest mom died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of Friday, October 27, 2023, at the age of 100 years.
Born in Chernivtsi, Romania, she came to Canada at the age of 5 years with her parents, Jacob Strobel (+1963), and Erna (Uhrich) Strobel (+1987), both born in Chernivitsi, Austria, as well as her brother, Robert (+2012).
Louise grew up in Balcarres, SK during the depression and survived tuberculosis, spending 4 years, ages 18-22, at the Fort Sanatorium.
She went on to get her secretarial certificate and worked throughout her 20’s in her profession, as well as artistically colouring black and white photography and oil painting.
She had a beautiful singing voice and joined the musical choruses of many productions. As an ardent traveler, she ignored convention and explored the western provinces on her own, she took a bus trip to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico and even crossed the Atlantic to Europe.
After meeting Ken (+2011) at work, they married in 1953 and quickly began their family, Howard, Dr. Susanne and Richard. Louise then moved on to her next career as a «Domestic Engineer».
Louise was nominated for a Volunteer Centenary Award for her long term commitment to many organizations at the age of 93: Toast Mistresses, Sunday School Teacher, United Church Women’s Group (UCW), Regina Horticultural Society (Life Time Member), Regina/ Saskatchewan/ National Council of Women, Canadian Bible Society, Old Timers Association, ESL Tutor (via RPL), Government House Society, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Saskatchewan Natural History Society, Grow Regina Community Garden (founding and board member), and Lakeview Community Association.
After Ken’s retirement, they travelled the world. They enjoyed cruises to Hawaii and the Caribbean, excursions to the Holy Land, Europe, England, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Scout Jamborees (national and international as Ken was a long time Scout leader).
Louise’s legacy: Howard (Catherine O’Byrne), Susanne (Eric Sherriff), and Richard (Audrey); grandchildren: Roxanne (+2015), Rigel, Michael, Lucy, Jana (Josh Hopkins), and Devin (Emily Cooper); and great-grandchildren: Daniel Atkinson, Jack and Elliott Arndt and Fynn Hopkins.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Louise’s memory can be made to Saskatchewan Lung Association, www.lungsask.ca, or the Regina Horticulture Society, www.reginahortsociety.ca.
A celebration of her life will be held at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Ave, on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Louise loved bright coloured flowers and her favourite colours were pinks, purples and golds. Please feel free to dress in your happy colours.
