Lorraine passed away on January 3rd, 2024, in Kamloops BC, at the age of 89.
She is survived by her son J. Clayton Scott (Donna), her daughter Heather J. Easton (Oliver), daughter-in-law Carol Scott, her grandchildren Bryden J. Scott, Caylen M. Baker (Brett), and J. Riley Scott. Her sister-in-law Heather Robson, brothers-in-law; Dennis Burnham, Jack Wheelhouse (Sharda), and nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was pre-deceased by her spouse; love and partner of 65 years John Banks Scott (Jack), son; James L. Scott, her parents; James and Ada Gray, sisters; Lorna Burnham, Linda-Jean Wheelhouse, and Judy Gebhardt, brother in laws; Gerald Scott, Robert Scott, and Kane Scott
Lorraine was born in Vancouver, BC on June 5, 1934. She attended various schools in her childhood throughout BC, as her father was a police officer and served in many communities, including Clinton, Williams Lake, Campbell River, Sechelt, Mission, and Kamloops.
Lorraine attended Business School in Vancouver and entered employment with the Canadian National Railway in Kamloops, where she met her beloved husband, Jack. They were married in 1956 and remained in Kamloops where they raised their three children: Clayton, Jamie, and Heather.
She was a generous and a gentle Mom who always welcomed everyone. She cooked amazing holiday dinners and was an excellent baker with her apple pies and cookies for Jack’s sweet tooth. Her eyes would always light up each time she saw her grandchildren, and she so enjoyed watching every sport or activity they were in.
After retirement as an Engineering Assistant for CN. Lorraine and Jack spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona. Always with a desire and love of the beautiful world around her, Lorraine entered the realm of painting in 2000 as an Artist. A keen student of the art, Lorraine attended various workshops and entered works in Art shows in Kamloops and Sorrento.
Dad kept Mom on a busy schedule, with golfing, art classes, Blazer games, and enjoying her family, grandchildren, and friends. However, as Mom’s Alzheimer’s progressed, she spent her last three and a half years at the Hamlets.
We would like to thank Dr. Kipp, the nurses, and the care aides of the Hamlets who watched over Mom.
There will be no service at this time, A family Celebration of life will be held in the future, where Mom will be laid to rest at Hillside cemetery.
Lorraine had this poem cut out and tucked away, enjoy:
May you always have work for your hands to do,
May your pockets hold always a coin or two,
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane,
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain,
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
