Lorraine Maber Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce that Lorraine Maber (nee Lacey) has passed away at the age of 74. Lorraine was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on April 13, 1949. Lorraine’s parents, seeking new adventures, moved the family to Victoria in the 1960’s. Lorraine and her three sisters were enrolled at school in Langford. It was here that Lorraine met and eventually married the love of her life, Ron Maber. Two sons, Robert and Scott, were born a few years later.
Lorraine was a wonderfully positive lady who loved to help others. She became an optician and assisted countless clients by providing excellent, knowledgeable, and caring service as the proud owner of Maycock Optical, until her retirement in 2005. Lorraine and Ron enjoyed retired life in Victoria until 2018 when they relocated to West Kelowna. Lorraine loved reading and was never without a book! She also enjoyed travelling, whether it be a long-distance motorcycle adventure, a flight to an exciting destination, or relaxing on a cruise. Lorraine always loved being active and in recent years, found a new love participating in Pilates classes. Lorraine also loved children, which was exhibited by her encouraging, positivism, and nurturing of her 3 grandchildren, along with her numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ron; and their 2 sons, Robert (Calgary) and Scott (Thailand). Lorraine also leaves behind three sisters: Beverly (Ron) Stone of Kelowna, Kathy Robinson of Victoria, and Joan Lacey of Grande Prairie; along with numerous other relatives and close friends. Lorraine’s kindness and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) BC.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial will be held later this Summer in Victoria, BC.
