Lorna passed away into the presence of her Saviour at St. Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the age of 91 years from complications related to pneumonia. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 70 years, Amos.
Lorna was the gracious, thankful and godly matriarch of a clan of sixty-three. These include her four children and their spouses Doug and Gayle Martin of Kitchener, Bob and Brenda Martin of Barrie, Diane and Larry Wiens, Judy and Roger Bauman all of Elmira, her grandchildren Emily, Katie (Greg) Ogiba, Aaron (Alix) Martin; Tracy (Dan) Dinsmore, Rebekah (Bill) Delong, James (Stephanie) Martin; Derek (Elisabeth) Wiens, Travis (Kim) Wiens, Brandon (Amy) Wiens, Jennine (Craig) Burney, Krista (Matt) Beaudoin-Hayes; Nathan (Janessa) Bauman, Stephanie (Rob) Brayshaw, Matthew (Nicole) Bauman, her 28 great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law Murray Toman.
Lorna was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her parents Onias and Elvina (Martin) Clemmer, her sisters Alma (Osiah) Martin, and Wilma Toman.
Lorna served the Saviour she loved in so many ways, but mostly through her prayerful care of family. Lorna and Amos were involved for many years in the leadership of the Friendship Club at Woodside Church in Elmira. Her quiet grace and thoughtful concern for others will be remembered and missed.
The family welcomes relatives and friends to the visitation on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Woodside Bible Fellowship, 200 Barnswallow Dr., Elmira. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Woodside Bible Fellowship, followed by a reception. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed on Lorna’s tribute page of the funeral home website.
A private interment will take place in Hawkesville Cemetery.
Donations to St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation or Woodside Bible Fellowship would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy, and can be made through the Dreisinger Funeral Home.
