February 7th, 1939- February 26th, 2023
Mildred Loretta Hayley (Diamond) passed peacefully away after a brief illness at G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville. She was surrounded by the love of her family who will never forget her or stop loving her. She had 84 years on this beautiful earth and loved every one of them.
To her many friends, we, the family, would like to thank you for being her friend and invite you to her visitation at Strathie’s Funeral Home in Bonavista, on February 28th from 2:00pm-4:00pm & 7:00pm-9:00pm, as well as on March 1st from 2:00pm- 4:00pm & 7:00pm-9:00pm.
Predeceased by her parents Caleb and Mariah (Nelly) Diamond, husband Douglas, and siblings Calvin, Clayton, Donald, Junior, Rosalind, Maxine, Pauline, and Sylvia. Leaving to mourn daughter Judy, sons Peter (Kelly) and Paul (Marilyn), grandchildren Jordan, Hayley, Jessica, Cole, James, and Madison, great-grandchildren Evan and Wyatt, siblings Phylis, Linda (Jack), Randy (Pauline), Derrick (Debbie), and a large circle of extended family and friends.
She was a kind and loving woman whose door was always open, appreciated especially by the kids at the playground who wanted to use the washroom, needed a bandaid, a drink, a Mr. Freeze, or had to use the phone. She turned away no one. She was active in many church societies and loved social events. Bingo, hockey, the Toronto Maple Leafs, sewing, crafts, and playing with the grandkids – these all were her passions. She always said «what you give with a free heart will always come back to you.» She will be missed by all who knew her.
