Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, that we the family, announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Lomond Keefe who passed peacefully away in the presence of family on November 2nd, 2024, at The Corner Brook Long Term Care facility. He will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
Lomond was a dedicated, loyal, and caring man who worked extremely hard to provide a great life for his family. He was respected by his peers and colleagues and dearly loved by his family and extended family.
Lomond Larry Keefe was born on December 12th, 1948, in Englee, NL to Pearl and Herbert Keefe.
Lomond graduated from The District Vocational School of Grand Falls, Newfoundland to become a journeyman plumber in the Spring of 1967 and left to work for the Health Region in St. Anthony in July 1967, where he would continue his career for the next 34 years. During his career, some highlights included the designing of the Mack House building (a hospital staff residency), maintaining several nursing stations in Southern Labrador and replacing furnaces in several personal homes and businesses throughout the community. Lomond’s work was highly respected and praised in St. Anthony and over parts of both Newfoundland and Labrador.
Lomond met the love of his life, Beryl Keefe (Hillier) in the later part of 1967. They were married on September 5th, 1969, at the Pentecostal church in St. Anthony. They had three children: Colleen, Lorne and Brad and celebrated their 55th year of marriage this year. He enjoyed tying flies, fishing/camping, watching hockey, travelling, being in the outdoors and having boil ups.
He retired from Grenfell Health Services in 2001 and settled in Deer Lake where he would spend time with his family, especially around the kitchen table. He treated his grandkids to ATV and snowmobile rides, canoe trips, backyard fires, and lifetime memories. Lomond decided to spread his wealth of plumbing knowledge as an instructor of Plumbing courses at Academy Canada in both Corner Brook and St. John’s until retiring in 2012.
Lomond was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Pearl, his daughter Colleen, his brothers Eugene, Wesley and James and his sister Beatrice. He is survived by his loving wife Beryl, his children; Lorne (Louise) and Brad (Yvette), his grandchildren: Alex, Shane, Arrow and Emily, his brothers Robert (Iris), Grant (May) and his sisters Nancy (Richard), Celeste (Byron) and Florence (George).
A very special thank you to the staff of the Corner Brook Long Term Care facility for providing professional end of life care and showing dignity to Lomond. During such a difficult time, your help, answers, and patience were greatly appreciated.
A Celebration and thanksgiving will be held at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Deer Lake on November 9th, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Jeffrey White officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which specializes in medical research for Parkinson’s disease.
