Lolkje Greidanus (Gietema), passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Saviour, surrounded by family, on November 4, 2024, at 97 years of age. Born April 20, 1927, in Wjelsryp, Friesland in the Netherlands. Daughter to Douwe and Trÿntje Gietema, sister to Maiike Seffinga and Jeltje den Hartog-Gietema, predeceased by brothers Rients, Hessel, Wierd and Jan Gietema. Lolkje was the beloved wife to Feite (Fred) Greidanus for 67 joy-filled years, before his death in 2013. She was a warm and loving mother to Pieter (Kim), Don (Kathleen), Nynka Greer (Albert d. 2024), Joan Horlings (Harm), Richard (d. 2014) (Joanne), Stuart (Kim), Len (Colleen), Wayne (Ilda) and Neil (Evelyn). Cherished Beppe to 24 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Lolkje loved being with her family and creating warm memories through her gezellig home, her food, and her ready laughter. Lolkje had a steadfast faith and knew she was going home to be with her Lord. Everything she did was done with love and she will be deeply missed.
Those who loved her and wish to remember her can join the family for the interment at St. Andrew’s – St. James’ Cemetery, Orillia, on Saturday November 9th at 11 am. A celebration of her life at Heritage Hall, Holland Christian Homes, Brampton Ontario, will be held Saturday November 9th at 2pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Orillia Christian School through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E Orillia (705) 327-0221.
