Memorial Donation
So, himself decided he’d had enough and elected to pass away. With very little fanfare and absolutely not much ado, he picked December 21st, 2023, at approximately 1:32 p.m. Newfoundland time to take his leave of us. It was quiet and very solemn until the lady in the hospital room with him discovered she had a cell phone, and much to our disappointment, nobody had bothered to teach her how to text. One of our last discussions and shared smiles was a headshake and grin as to the problem of noisy neighbors.
The love of my life, my soul mate, my very best friend is no longer living here. I am still waiting for a sign, a postcard or a forward mail to- to let me know where he’s gone and that he’s got there all right. I don’t know his destination, but I do hope it’s warm. (Strangers may be wondering, but anybody that knew Lloyd knows that he couldn’t stand the cold.)
He’s left behind his own sweet pea, me, Corinne Lidster, his wife and a whole boat load of the Lidsters that came with me that loved him dearly. He has also left behind his baby brother, John Button and his lovely wife Jeanie… (and despite all the times he tried to ditch you when you were kids, he was glad to call you his brother to the very end.) He has left his nephews Steven and David and his favorite…and only niece, Christal and they have been busy bunnies because there is a whole slew of new little people that both flabbergasted and terrified Lloyd, though they were always fascinated with him.
He has also left behind his other brothers and sisters…the ones lucky enough to know his quiet humor and confidence, to share in his many adventures and be glad for his open heart and always open door….and a special shout out to the many and the proud that got to push his bike, we salute you.
There were many that went before him, his parents Clarence and Alma Button, his Uncle Arch Button and there are many that have come after him, his many great nieces and nephews but there was only one him and for that we are grateful. I am grateful for every day, every smile, every laugh and every tear. I am so grateful for this little speck of time that we got to share.
All the things you think matter dwindle down to nothing when you lose the one you shared it all with.
Lloyd wasn’t a fan of organized religion, so we’ll be having none of that. He was a fan of good times with good people so please in his memory, hug the ones you love and raise a glass to him. There is no set plan for a tribute or in memory of because I know those that knew and loved him will do that every day.
I love you, Mr. Lloyd Button. Goodbye.
