With heavy hearts, we share that Lloyd Zimmerman, aged 83, of Burnaby, passed away on October 12th during surgery. We are grateful to the nursing staff and surgeons at Royal Columbian Hospital for doing their utmost to fulfill his wish of attempting the difficult surgery because, after all, he still had “a lot of stuff to do”.
Lloyd was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Josephine (Jo) Zimmerman on December 16, 2017. He will be lovingly remembered by their five children: Pam (Mike), Anita (Andrew), Paul (Linda), Niki, and Jonathon (Catherine); 10 grandchildren: Paul, Amanda, Rachael, Liam, Jessica, Dawn, Megan, Tatum, Amelia, and Mia; his siblings: Phyllis (Bernard), Harold (Alice), Jeannie, Gerry (Leslie), and Carol (Ron); a host of beloved aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Lloyd’s inquisitive nature led to numerous hobbies, including a love of travel (especially to Europe), reading, woodworking, curling, golfing, gardening, winemaking, and cooking to name just a few.
Family, faith and community involvement were central to Lloyd’s character. He was a social soul, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than sharing a meal, a bottle of wine (or scotch), and a good conversation. He loved to share stories about his travels and adventures. Recent declines in his health slowed him down, but did not curb his love of gardening and sharing the fruits of his labour.
Lloyd was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (Honors). After moving the family to Vancouver in 1964, he worked for 33 ½ years at BC Hydro and went on to semi-retire twice more before ultimately retiring to pursue his many hobbies.
Lloyd, you have left an indelible mark on our lives. We will miss you.

Prayer Services will be held on Friday, October 27th at 7 PM, at Saint Francis de Sales, 6610 Balmoral Street, Burnaby.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, October 28th at Saint Francis de Sales, 6610 Balmoral Street, Burnaby.
