Peacefully, with family by her side, Liz McNeill passed away at the age of 69 on January 11, 2023.
Loving wife of 50 years to Gary, beloved mother to Dan McNeill (Sherry), Cheryl Heard (Clark) and Amy Schembri (Dave).
Grandmother to Ashley, Brent, Amanda, Courtney, Skylar, Bronwyn, Leah, Arla, Addison, and Daniel, and great grandmother of six.
Sister to Sandy Marr (Al) and Ken Whitehead (Jeannie).
After completing her Health Care Aid certificate from Fanshawe College, Liz worked at the Bobier Home in Dutton, then moved into Home Care for years before shifting to working through the West Lorne Canada Post office until her retirement.
When her kids were young, Liz was an avid volunteer with many organizations from figure skating to baseball, winning herself Recreation Volunteer of the Year in 1992.
Outside of her work in health care, her commitment to caring for others continued for years at the West Elgin Community Health Centre, where she was involved in advocating for and bringing this centre to the community. Liz then served on the Board of Directors and many committees. She facilitated grief groups, ran blood pressure clinics, and facilitated volunteer driving and Meals on Wheels programs.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life at Denning’s of West Lorne on Saturday January 28, 2023 from 1-4 pm. Friends and family are invited to share their memories at 2:30 pm.
Donations can be made to the West Elgin Community Health Centre or Iona Christian Fellowship.
