Linda Stephenson
1948-2024
Linda Jean Stephenson of Trenton, NS passed away peacefully
in her sleep on February 12, 2024 at the Aberdeen Hospital after a
short courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 02, 1948 in
New Glasgow.
Linda worked for Maritime Tel & Tel (Bell Aliant) as
an operator for 31 years where she met many of her lifelong friends.
Linda was the second person in the company to receive a Humanitarian
Award. Through the company, she started bowling and continued for 58
years up until her illness. After retiring from MTT/Bell, she worked
12 years for Aqua-Check, travelling across Nova Scotia testing
water.
Linda was a faithful member of First United Church, Trenton;
a life member of the Canadian Pioneers; a faithful volunteer with both
Provincial and Federal Progressive Conservative Party; a past Trenton
Councillor; and a friend to many who needed assistance for
appointments, yard work, house and pet sitting.
Linda spent her entire life in Trenton where she was an avid
baseball player, playing with many teams. She loved fishing with her
friend Doris in Jordanville and spending time at the camp. The last
few years she loved to go lobster fishing in Tignish, PEI with her
friends, Myra, Glen and Gary. She also enjoyed visiting with her
friends in Mermaid, PEI, Mary, Darren, Suzie, Brooklyn and
Ciara.
She will be dearly missed by her friends, the Tim Tarts, at
Trenton Tim Hortons where she had coffee every morning with Cathy,
Lisa, Kennedy, Stephanie, Marilyn and her faithful driver,
Mary.
Linda was predeceased by her father, Lawson Stephenson; her
mother, Charlotte (MacDonald) Jordan; her step-father, Alvin Jordan;
step-brothers, Carl and Raymond Jordan and numerous aunts, uncles and
cousins.
Linda is survived by her sister, Eileen Stephenson in
Hampden, Maine and her children, Linda, Gary, Dona, Sandy and Tammie;
her brother, Sandy (Marilyn) Stephenson and their children Todd, his
daughter Ella, Aaron (Tracey) their sons Nathan and Ben; and her
friend of 40 years, Elizabeth Grant.
The family thanks the EHS Paramedics and the caring staff of
both the Aberdeen Emergency Department and
4 th Floor North.
The family also wishes to acknowledge Everett McCullough, Six
Mile Brook, for the beautiful wood-crafted urn he made for
Linda.
In keeping with Linda’s wishes, the family will
celebrate her life privately. Donations in Linda’s memory to
the Pictou County SPCA would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are
under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home,
Trenton.
From Linda,
with love: «Thanks everyone for giving me such a
well-lived life.»
