A TRIBUTE TO LILLIAN JOAN CANTWELL a.k.a. NIN
Many things come to mind when you hear the name Nin Cantwell. To many, it brings warm feelings of homecooked meals and full bellies, to others she was a kind ear that listened. However you knew her, you knew love and acceptance. Lillian in her younger hears was a force by nature raising five children, gardening and always minding to the birds.
She loved with her whole heart, whether it was picking berries with her sisters or having tea with friends, she loved whatever the day had to bring.
Going for drives was always a favorite, didn’t matter where. When her husband Bern was alive it was a favorite past-time followed by a snack of Mary Browns. When he passed those drives were taken over by her best friend, daughter and complete caregiver Karen. Karne was her rock through so many ups and downs.
Lillian was a pillar, the matriarch of the family. She loved baseball and figure skating and had a great sense of humor. Lillian may have only had five children but she was a mom and nan to so many in the community. If you ever had her home-made bread, you had her heart. If you were lucky enough to get a pot pie, you were family.
Above everything that she loved were her grandkids and great-grandkids. She made it clear she was nan not grandma. They were her pride and joy.
She was a broach wearing, jam making, bottom of your belly laughing, best nan anyone could ask for.
We were all very blessed to have had her for 86 years and the world is a better place because of her. We will miss her forever and love her for always.
