Brandstad – 52,
Debert, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, he was
the only son of the late Ottar Albert Leonard and Eunice Leora
«Lee» (Peters) Brandstad, and was blessed with four sisters,
although he may have occasionally said
«cursed».
He leaves behind to mourn their huge loss, his wife, Gwen;
stepsons, Kyle and Travis; step-grandson, Logan. Also mourning his
passing are his sisters, Barbara Bosomworth, Paula Brandstad, Kyla
Brandstad; parents-in-law, nieces, nephews and other extended family
members and numerous friends. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his sister, Janet Lee Brandstad; brother-in-law, John
Bosomworth.
Len’s life was dedicated to helping others,
sometimes to his own detriment. He served with Valley-Kemptown and
District Fire Brigade for many years and was a member of
Colchester Ground Search and Rescue Association for more than 30
years. If someone needed help, he was often the first one
there.
As a beloved husband, step-father, brother, uncle, neighbour
and friend, he will be incomparably missed and the impact of his loss
will be felt by many who may not even have known his
name.
Special thanks are extended to the staff in the ICU at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their excellent care and
compassion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Len’s
family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Private interment at a later date. If so desired, donations in
Len’s name to Diabetes Canada, Canadian Cancer Society,
Colchester Ground Search and Rescue Association or any organization
cadet related are welcomed. Words of comfort, tributes and memories of
