In loving memory of Leona Anne Bennett, who passed away peacefully in Renfrew Victoria Hospital, surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with cancer.
Leona was the daughter of the late Tina (Bob) Harju and Carson Bennett. She is survived by her sister Joan Edwards, brothers Lloyd Bennett and Barry (Cindy) Bennett, and brother-in-law Mervin Dagenais. She was predeceased by her sister Gwen Dagenais and her brother-in-law Hugh Edwards.
She cherished her role as Aunt Leona to Roger (Kim), Bonnie (Rick), Scott (Cheryl), Terry (Patty), Chris (Sandra), Jamie, Mark (Jane), Tim, Shawn (Lisa), Marc (Sherry), Mike (Kathie), Lee-Ann, Kenny, Kerri (Marc), Tracey (Marc), Barry Jr., Jeff, and Shawn (Shai-Lynn). She was equally close to the generations that followed, remaining a loving aunt to all. She was a proud godmother to Tara Lee and Drew Edwards.
Leona was always there for her neighbours. Whether it was to visit, drop off some fresh vegetables from the garden or cookies from the oven, say hello to the kids and the pets, or perhaps to cut the grass or snow-blow the driveway, everyone in the neighbourhood knew Leona.
Leona began her career as a registered nurse at Renfrew Victoria Hospital and maintained life-long friendships with many of her nursing colleagues. Following her nursing career, she was a long time employee of Amphenol / Times Fiber.
The family wishes to extend their most heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital for their care of Leona during her time with them.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. Visitations will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. A spring internment will be held at Rosebank Cemetery.
