Memorial Donation
With loving and broken hearts, we announce the death of Leo McDonald of Brigus on November 25th, 2023 at age 69. Leo died peacefully in Carbonear Hospital after a courageous and difficult battle with cancer.
Leo is predeceased by his wife Tau; Parents, Michael and Terri McDonald.
Left to celebrate his life; Sons: Ryan and Justin; Grandchildren: Riley and Felicity; Brothers: Dan, Michael (Sylvia); Sisters: Colleen (Melvin), Margaret (Clayton), Brenda. (Ronnie), and Maria; Aunt Marg MacIsaac of NS, Janice McDonald (friend and mother of his children), Nieces, nephews and a large extended family as well as numerous friends Leo made throughout his life.
The family deeply appreciates the many months of constant care our brother Michael devoted to Leo.
Special mention, also, to Leo’s very good friend, Rod Fowler, who was there for Leo in every way possible.
Special mention to Leo’s Oncologists: Dr. Mann, Dr. Greenland and Dr. Rourke for their special care. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Carbonear Hospital for the wonderful care Leo received.
Leo spent 40 years working as an ironworker and scaffolder in NL, ON, and AB. He was proud of the work he did, and he built up deep friendships in those years. He was well respected on the job sites and known for his excellent work ethic.
Leo had a passion for reading the news from local to global. His knowledge of current events kept us on our toes. He was an avid hockey fan who watched every game he could, no matter the time of day. He remained loyal to the Leafs with many a cuss word throughout the games.
Leo had a green thumb and a passion for growing things since childhood. He realized that dream during his happy, retirement years in Thailand. He would proudly send us pictures of his fruit trees.
He was a generous and kind man with a soft heart, and many were those he helped throughout the years, and asked nothing in return.
He was down to earth with regard to needs and possessions and lived simply.
Leo, with his vibrant zest for life, held a unique place in our family and now we will fill the void with the treasure house of memories we have left. With tears in our hearts, we will miss and remember him with love and respect.

Cremation has taken place. Leo’s Celebration of Life will be held on December 16th, 2023 at 2:30 pm, with a graveyard service at the RC cemetery in Brigus. A social gathering will be held immediately afterward at the Brigus Legion, Branch 65.
