Obituary
AYLWARD, WILLENA “LENA” ANN – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Willena “Lena” Ann Aylward at the Westhills Care Centre on February 3, 2023. Mom was born on July 21, 1940 in Sydney Mines Nova Scotia. Mom suffered with dementia over the last couple of years, although we will miss her dearly, she is at peace and reunited with the love of her life, our dad, Robert “Bobby” Aylward. Lena is survived by her sons Blair (Cathy), Dave (Rae), Paul (Jocelyn) and Darryl; grandchildren Darryl, Devin, Corey, Brittany, Paige, Bennett, Maddy, Kyle, Chad, and Noah also many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; her siblings Phillip “Bud” Campbell (Barbara), Margie Sparks (Bob), Adam Campbell, Joan Eavis (Clay), Raymond Campbell (Jackie), Howie Campbell (Barb), MaryLou MacIntosh (Darrell), Wayne Campbell (Anne); Brother-in-law Dougie Rose (Kelly) and sisters-in-law Patricia Roy, and Maureen Thompson. She was predeceased by her parents Adam and Maggie Campbell, brothers Jonathan and David in infancy; sister Bridget Serroul; sister-in-law Katie Campbell and brothers-in-law Russie Serroul, Earl Rose, Dennis Aylward, Jim Aylward and Thomas Aylward. Mom worked for close to 30 years for People’s Jewellers, she was a member of St. Kevin’s parish in Welland where she enjoyed volunteering at the food bank. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandkids who always wanted to go and visit Nanny. This usually turned into a sleepover that meant my Dad was in the spare room for the night and 3 or 4 grandkids were in with Nanny. Mom loved hosting large gatherings at the house where she would cook and bake dessert for everyone. Mom you were truly one in a million. If all of mankind could show the caring, compassion, and kindness that you have displayed throughout your lifetime, there truly would be peace on earth.
