Obituary for
Laurie Cloke
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Laurie Cloke of Mayerthorpe, AB on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the age of 86 years.
Laurie will always live in the hearts of her children, Kathy (Dana), Dave (Gloria), Andy (Sheila), Audrey and Sue; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Phil; sister, Carol; as well as many more dear relatives and friends.
Laurie was predeceased by her husband, Jim; and son-in-law, Curtis.
Laurie spent her life in the Anselmo area farming and raising her family. She was a hardworking woman, who always made time for family, ensuring every birthday and anniversary was celebrated. As the “Operations Manager” instructions were given to empty and clean the garage, set up the tables and decorations, and prepare the mountain of food. When she wasn’t enjoying family, she was eagerly awaiting the spring calves and the arrival of baby chicks.
Laurie also worked off the farm, starting at the Co-op, first in grocery, then moving to the hardware department, and upon her retirement, she earned a gold ring for 20 years of service. She was also awarded the Agricultural Pioneer Award from Woodlands County. At the age of 80 Laurie sold the farm and moved to a house in town, where she lived until her passing.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Anselmo Community Hall, RR 102 at Hwy 647 with a private inurnment in Anselmo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Laurie’s name may be made to the Alberta SPCA, 17904 – 118 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5S 2W3 or contribute to the upkeep of Anselmo Community Hall at Anselmo Rec and Ag Society, Box 1192, Mayerthorpe, AB T0E 1N0.
