In Loving Memory:
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly Angell on April 23, 2024 with her loving husband and her family by her side after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.
Kimberly is survived by her adoring husband Joshua, who was the love of her life for 18 years. Also mourning her loss are her loving parents, Robert and Sharon Parkin, sister Lisa Parkin (Trevor), brother Ryan Parkin, her niece Paige Parkin, half brother Blake Parkin (Jen) niece Madelyn and nephew Liam. She also leaves behind her much loved fur babies Reba and Rosie, and her long time best friend Leslie Protzer (Klaus) along with a huge circle of close friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. Kimberly was the most loving and caring wife, daughter, sister and beloved auntie to her niece Paige and loved spending time with her whole family.
Kimberly was born and raised in Nanaimo then moved to Ladysmith in 2007. She graduated with Honors from John Barsby Secondary school in 2000 then attended Vancouver Island University where she acquired her Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Psychology. She was employed at Food Country and B.C. Ferries for a number of years before returning to VIU to further her studies. She completed her Bachelor of Business Administration in HR Management before embarking on a career with Island Health as a Human Resources Consultant.
Kimberly loved to travel the world and seek out new adventures. She and Josh traveled to many countries in Europe, SE Asia, Costa Rica, Hawaii and also enjoyed many road trips in Canada and the United States. She was always so excited to check out new countries and experience different cultures. She loved hiking every day with her dogs in the forest, hiked to many waterfalls and beaches, along with some early morning hikes up mountains to catch the beautiful sunrises. She enjoyed much time spent on the boat with Josh, fishing and cruising the waters, camping, paddleboarding with friends and just everything outdoors. One of her favorite pastimes were spent visiting her happy place, the Disney Theme parks, many times per year along with participating in several Disney marathons.
She was a spokeswoman for Rethink Breast Cancer and other organizations where she attended conferences along with participating in many cancer retreats where she met many new friends. She was a very strong advocate for both herself and others for Breast Cancer treatment and research. She offered much support and guidance to those battling this horrible disease and was a huge inspiration to others all over the world.
Kimberly was a very strong person who could and would do anything she put her mind to. She was a very caring, positive, supportive, kind hearted person and was a beautiful soul. She had the most infectious laugh, a great sense of humour and was always smiling. She was such a bright light in the eyes of many. To know her was to love her. She had the most positive outlook on life and lived her life to the utmost fullest.
Kimberly will be deeply missed, always loved and forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life for Kimberly will be held on June 1, 2024 at the Moose Hall, Cranberry Ave., Nanaimo, B.C. at 2:00 PM.
