Obituary
KENNEY, Kenneth James – better known as Jimmy, age 67, of Goose Lake passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital with family by his side on December 17, 2023. Born May 31, 1956, in Clark’s Harbour, he was the son of the late James and Joyce (Cunningham) Kenney. Jimmy was a mechanic in his early years at Smith and Watt where he made many life-long friends. He then became the captain of several fishing boats and ended his career on the Lady Theresa. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time at the camp and visiting with friends where he loved to reminisce about old times. Jimmy was a proud father and grandfather and loved seeing his children and grandchildren any chance he could. Gramps loved to aggravate but, that’s how he showed his love. Jimmy (Gramps) will be fondly remembered by his kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand when he could. He was always up for company and a good conversation with many laughs. Jimmy is survived by his loving common-law partner of 35 years, Patricia Nickerson; sons, Devon Crowell, Moncton, NB; Tyler (Lois) Kenney, Saskatoon, SK; daughter, Laura (Nathan) Waybret, Baccaro; grandchildren, Brantley, Brody, Grayson; brothers, Joseph Kenney, The Hawk; Robert (Anna) Kenney, Barrington; sister, Sue Ellen Stewart, North East Point. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Peter Kenney, and Arthur Kenney in infancy. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There will be no visitation or service by request.
