Obituary of Kathleen Margaret Kavanagh
Peacefully at the Shenkman Hospice on July 13 in her 87th year. Beloved wife of Jack for 63 years. Devoted mother of late Kelly (2015), John (Kathy) and Matt (Laurie) and proud and loving “Nanny” to Grace, Patrick, Megan, Ashley, Emily and Alison. Special aunt to over 70 nieces and nephews and longtime neighbour and friend of many on Hopkins Road. Predeceased by parents Frank and Peggy McAllister and brothers Bob (Shirley) and Frank (Gloria). Survived by brothers Paul (Sue), Buddy (Vivian), Peter (Susan) and sister Peggy Lowrey (Tom).
Muffy was born in Moncton New Brunswick and moved to Ottawa before her first birthday. She grew up on Clegg St and after meeting the love of her life, married and raised a family in the west end of the city. In retirement, she loved to travel and saw much of the world from a cruise ship balcony with her favorite guy. In her final months, Muffy lived with the same unselfish optimism and faith that has always defined her approach to life.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the many health care professionals who provided her with exceptional care in her final year including so many at the Ottawa Cancer Center, the team of doctors from Community Palliative Medicine Associates and the wonderful people at the Shenkman Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you would consider making a donation to Hospice Care Ottawa or the Canadian Cancer Society. A celebration of life is planned for Thursday, July 18 between 5:00 and 8:00 pm at Cole Funeral Services, 2500 Baseline Road in Ottawa. Private internment at a later date.
