Katherine (Ruppert) Krasovec
August 5, 1942 – April 3, 2024
Katherine (Kathy) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at Grand River Hospital in her 82nd year.
Cherished mom of Evelyn Whigham (Tim Wadman) of Kitchener, Tony (Marty) of Kitchener, and Rod (Samantha) of Crystal Beach.
Loving grandma to Jamie (Jay Shaughnessy), Melissa, Zack (Janessa), Cam, Mitchell, Maxim, Jake, Josh, Rachel and Tyler, and great-grandma to Allianna, Braelyn and Hadley.
Beloved sister of Esther Censner (Allen) and sister-in-law of Joyce Ruppert. Fondly remembered by her dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her son Allan, daughter-in-law Michelle, brother John, and her parents John and Katherine Ruppert.
Many thanks to the palliative care team, ER and 5th floor nursing staff at Grand River Hospital for their compassionate care.
Mom was born in Szarazd, Hungary and settled in Riedlingen, Germany after the war in 1949, before immigrating to Canada with her family in 1952. She first lived in Simcoe and moved to Kitchener in 1956. After she was married, they moved to Elmira in 1966 where she lived for 50 years, until moving back to Kitchener, where she recently resided at Lanark Heights Long Term Care.
Fondly known as Mrs. “K” as she cycled around Elmira on her blue bicycle in her younger years, she always stopped to talk to everyone who knew her. Mom was the most loving, supportive, kind and giving person, and she cherished spending time with her family. When we were growing up, mom always welcomed our friends into our home and thoroughly enjoyed socializing. She loved hosting many wedding and baby showers, bible studies, and simply loved interacting with people.
We will miss her smiling face and we will hold her in our hearts forever.
Funeral arrangements are pending, and will be published in the Record when finalized.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society through the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
