Memorial Donation
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Karl, who slipped away peacefully in his sleep on June 24, 2024, at the age of 53. Karl has been called home to join his father, Jack, his grandparents Vincent and Mary McHugh and Arthur and Sarah Walker, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins.
He leaves behind with beautiful memories his mother Margaret (née Walker) and the love of his life Bertha Hawco. He also leaves to mourn his siblings Gerard, Chris (Brenda), Jacquie, Vince (Melanie), Art, Mark (Ruby) and Anastasia (Kent), many aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as other relatives and friends, including his former coworkers at KBAC and his friends in the BAC union (Local 1 in Newfoundland and Labrador) and IBEW union (Local 424 in Alberta).
The family is grateful for the showing of love and support from family, friends, and community. A very special thank you to the extraordinary team of people who helped during his brief fight with cancer, especially the wonderfully caring doctors, nurses, and staff at the Carbonear General Hospital.
Visitation will be at Broughton’s Funeral Home, 17 Station Road, Brigus on Friday, June 28th from 10am-9pm. Funeral service will take place at Broughton’s Chapel on Saturday, June 29th at 2pm. As per Karl’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or a donation in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of your choice. We invite you to show your love by sharing your favourite memory of Karl by having a chat with an old or a new friend, just like he loved to do.
