On February 24, 2023, in his 89th year, we lost our loving, husband/father/grandfather/uncle and friend, Joseph Rene Richard “Dick” Gougeon. Dick was born in Ottawa, to Rene & Jeanette Gougeon and had a younger sister, Joanne Beaudry (predeceased). He joined the RCAF and was posted to Germany. His beautiful bride, Ruth, flew to France to marry him and they enjoyed exploring Europe during his posting. They recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. He was an immensely proud father to their sons, Scott, Dan and Bob. When Dick left the military he started a new career with Corrections Canada where he retired as Supervisor of Industries from Warkworth Penitentiary. Dick enjoyed spending summers at Quinte Isle and carving in his spare time. He always made sure that you had a bag of candy in your pocket. Dick always said “Be good to one another” on our way out the door. He had a big heart full of love for us. Dick will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruth, his sons Scott (Lynne), Dan and Bob (Janice) and his grandchildren, Marissa, Megan, Jessica, Maya, Brody, Carter and Hawley. In respect with Dick’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to V.O.N. would be appreciated by the family.
