Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jose (Joseph, Joe) Machado on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. At the age of 68, he went peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Left to mourn are, his wife of 44 years, Patricia (nee Petrick), son Shawn (Carla), son Bradley (Marilyne), son Adam (Ireland), daughter Kayla (Tom), grandchildren Chloé, Sydnee, Colin, C.J, Raya, sister Adelia (Galante), many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph is predeceased by his father Jose Madairos Machado, mother Rose Raposo Borges, father-in-law Thomas Petrick, mother-in-law Verna (Lorette) Petrick, brother-in-law Richard Petrick and many very close friends.
Joseph was born in Sao Miguel Azores, Portugal on July 13,1954. With his father already in Canada, Joseph, his mother Rose and sister Adelia immigrated to Winnipeg in 1970. Joseph, adjusting to the North American lifestyle, had a great interest in automobiles. Joseph owned many muscle cars and was involved in car and van clubs during his younger years. This led Joseph to the industry of autobody, where he worked as a respected technician, working as much as he could to support his family. If you knew Joe, he worked hard on whatever task was put in front of him. He was also relied upon for teaching the new generation older techniques since he had a very good eye for his craft. Joe made many friendships and was a staple in the autobody community, always smiling when you ran into him.
Joseph had a passion for the outdoors and loved to fish with his buddies and especially with his sons. In his younger years, he spent a lot of time at George Lake and on getaways with his friends at some of their favorite fishing spots. Joseph loved camping and was happiest when he was at the lake. His camping spots may have changed a little over the years, but surrounded by his family and friends, he and Patricia spent the last 15 years at a seasonal campsite in Falcon Lake. It was there, that he shared some of his greatest moments filled with lots of laughs and many smiles that will be cherished forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Joseph was a fanatic for his beloved Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. It truly was another one of his passions. He never missed watching a game and was always listing to radio sports programs and reading the latest sports news. He loved a good chat with anyone about his favorite teams. Joseph had a big heart and cared so deeply for his family. He has touched so many hearts in many ways and will be greatly missed. You will be forever in our hearts, keep smiling over us and help guide us in time of need.
Love,
Your Beloved Family
