ATKINSON: John Gemmell
Passed away at Hospice Peterborough on Sunday June 9, 2024. John Atkinson of Lakefield in his 78th year. Loved and missed by his wife Sandra B. Atkinson of 54 years. Dear father of Gordon J. (Melanie) (children Isabella & Marshall), Paul T. (children Elizabeth & Bridget), Kenneth W., Joanne B. Mewhinney (Tyler) (children Kyla & Kayce). Survived by his sisters Linda D. Unrau (Les) of Peterborough (children Alicia & Tommy) and Barbara A. Essegern (Rudy) of Brantford (children Sara, Amy & Lisa). Predeceased by his parents Thomas L. Atkinson (2012) and Grace McKrindle (nee Gemmell) Atkinson (2006). A funeral service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Saturday June 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Visitation two hours prior to the service. Rev. Kerrie Perry officiating. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room of the funeral home, after which the interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Lakefield. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to one of the following: Peterborough Regional Health Centre or Hospice Peterborough.
