Obituary
John Wissler Thompson passed away on July 23, 2023 at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound.
John was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario on May 1, 1952 to Henry W. Thompson and Esther (Anderson). He leaves his brothers, Michael of North Bay and Hedley (Glenna) of Chesley as well as nieces Margot, Gabrielle and Katharine, and nephews Ford and Michael (deceased).
John worked for many years as a legal editor for CCH in Toronto. After retirement he relocated to Owen Sound where he continued to pursue his passion for classical music of which he possessed an encyclopedic knowledge. Blessed with perfect pitch John delighted in identifying a momentary lapse in tonal structure or a misplayed note. Eccentric and refreshingly honest he will be missed by all who knew him.
The family extends a special thank you to his caregiver, friend and guardian angel – Steve Whittaker.
A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, August 4th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
