With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to John Sallinen who sadly has passed away after just turning 70. He went peacefully with his family by his side on June 25th, 2023 in Parry Sound.
Becoming a leader in the Real Estate Industry he started out alongside his father in 1976, when they brought a RE/MAX franchise to Parry Sound proudly making it a successful business for over 46 years.
Those who knew John knew he was always ready to share an appetizer, share a recipe, host a “Pizza Night”, or find a reason to go for a flight…whether it was to scout out a new listing, look for new fishing spots or watch the fall colours change. And if you were lucky enough to join him on a flight, he would let you take the controls over to feel the freedom of the skies.
Always ready to plan a meal around a bottle of wine from the cellar, share a daily call with good friends on their drive home, play a Friday night card game, talk business or sports, or enjoy a weekly Sunday morning call…he cared deeply for his friends and enjoyed every conversation.
All we can hope for is that when we leave this world, we have touched so many lives in such a positive way as he clearly did. It’s a real testament to the person you were when your time comes and you see this outpouring of memories and love.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Saara and son in law Murphy, his son Nick, daughter in law Angela and first grandson Nathaniel, who was always ready to share ice cream on a stick with his grandpa!
You’re clear for take off John.

Celebration of Life to be held later in August. Donations can be made to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation, where John and his agents proudly donated to annually. Thank you from the family to the doctors and staff for making our Dad as comfortable as we could in his last days.
