It is with heavy hearts the family of John “Roy” Stewart had to say goodbye on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Roy passed away at Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband and best friend of June (Faulkner) for 70 years. Proud father of Douglas Roy (Debbie) of Aylmer, William “Alan” (Cindy) of Straffordville, Rebecca Jean Evoy (Ken) of Harriston and Donald James (Maryann) of Aylmer. Roy will be dearly missed by his 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and special niece and nephew Ronald and Betty Janke of London. Predeceased by his parents William and Jean (Chute) Stewart. Roy was always a farmer first, although he was also employed by Petro Canada and Livingston Industries. He was also an excellent woodworker and could fix anything. He had a wonderful tenor voice and sang in a quartet for many years and was in several choirs and in many Rotary musicals. In keeping with Roy’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held at the Eden Cemetery. Memorial donations to Make A Wish Foundation, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides or the charity of your choice would be appreciated and may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted by the Stewart family. Special thank you to everyone at Care Partners who helped Roy stay at home throughout his illness. Also thank you to the Palliative Care Unit at Alexandra Hospital for their care and kindness.
